Handmade sterling silver wrist cuff. A stunning, pear-shaped Labradorite stone is set in a scalloped bezel setting. A gorgeous, wave-textured split band completes this cuff. This is an open wrist cuff that is slightly adjustable and fits most wrists. Stone measures approximately 1.125 x 2 inches.
Place the cuff on your wrist and squeeze or stretch the cuff to your wrist size, so that you can still slide it on and off the thin part of your wrist. It is recommended that wrist cuffs be sized ONCE, as constant bending of the cuff will result in weak metal that will break over time.
This cuff is inspired by the Yoruba orisha Yemọja. Yemọja (Yemaya, Yemoyá, Yemanjá) is the primary Yoruba water goddess, the patron spirit of rivers and oceans, and the mother of all Orishas. She is often depicted as a mermaid and is believed by those in the Yoruba religion to be the mother of humanity, born from her womb. Yemọja is a protective, maternal spirit associated with all things parental and maternal, as well as the protection and safety of children. She is believed to ease the sorrows of children and provide them comfort, and many believe she can aid in pregnancy and cure infertility in women. Overall, she is a benevolent spirit, but when angered, can be destructive, flooding the waters of rivers. Many believe Yemọja has control over the moon and the tides. She is called upon to aid in wisdom, creativity, renewal, and healing. Yemọja is one of the oldest deities in Africa and has become a very prominent spirit still worshipped in many African diaspora religions, like Vodou and Santeria.
