This necklace is inspired by Qalupalik, the terrifying creature from Inuit mythology. The Qalupalik is often described as a humanoid sea monster, with green skin, long hair, sharp claws, and a putrid smell. She lives under the surface of the ice, waiting for her prey. The Qalupalik is typically feared by children and used as a warning not to wander too close to the shores, for fear of being snatched and drug into the water. Many believe the Qalupalik lures children by singing or mimicking the voice of their parents. tricking them to approach the dangerous ice. The Qalupalik was typically used as a cautionary tale of the dangers of the harsh environment of the Arctic.
